President Obama will be arriving in Africa this week, and will be visiting Senegal, South Africa, and Tanzania.  This trip will not include Kenya, where President Obama's father was born, and where many of his relatives still live today.

Prior to the new President of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta being elected, a senior staff member in the Obama administration has announced that President Obama will not visit the country.

President Obama will be visiting Senegal, South Africa and Tanzania from June 26th to July 3rd.  These three countries are thought to be stronger democracies. The First Lady and President's two daughters will be on this trip as well.

This trip is President Obama's second to Africa since he was elected into office in 2007.  In 2009, he visited Ghana.

The White House had taken visiting Kenya into consideration, but that was during President Obama's first term, and the new President in Kenya was not elected at that time yet.  President Obama also made a promise that he will definitely visit Kenya during his term.

Other reports said during this visit to Africa, the United States will plan deployment of aircraft carriers equipped with complete medical facilities in coastal areas, in order to respond to potential emergencies.  The U.S. military also prepares to transport aircraft will transport 56 vehicles, including 14 luxury cars and 3 trucks with bullet-proof glass.  In addition, there will be aircrafts on the sky to protect President Obama.
