Call for Applications! Africa Program and Leadership Project Social Media Interns - Fall 2013

The Africa Program and the Project on Leadership and Building State Capacity are jointly seeking qualified applicants for two available social media internship positions in Washington, D.C. Interns will assist program staff in its outreach and communications strategies, social media development and web management.

Duties will Include:

  • Managing this blog, Africa Up Close, including uploading new posts, adding hyperlinks, liaising with contributors and internal web team, maintaining a post schedule, and troubleshooting issues when necessary;
  • staying on top of trending topics related to Africa and authoring short posts on blog;
  • taking lead on social media promotion and announcements for events and publications, including the program websites, Facebook and Twitter;
  • proofreading and editing written work;
  • assisting in managing and updating program database;
  • occasionally helping with office reception duties, including telephone, greeting visitors, and mail sorting and distribution; and
  • preparing Leadership Project materials and publications.
